La Cueva serves as an appetizing destination for thousands who visit the city's historic Original Aurora area. Since 1974, Norma Nunez and the Nunez family have been offering delectable Mexican cuisine at La Cueva Mexican restaurant. In addition to fantastic food, the restaurant is known for its top-quality customer service.

La Cueva is located within walking distance to Fletcher Plaza , the Aurora Fox Arts Center and the East End Arts District. La Cueva is a member of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce and the Northern Aurora Business Association.

But Norma Nunez's contributions do not end there. In 1996, she founded the nonprofit Nuñez Foundation, which has provided more than $75,000 in college scholarships to dozens of deserving students. The foundation also sustains many of its student recipients by providing them with financial support each year that they remain in college. Additional educational opportunities are extended to area youth by sending them to educational summer day camps and exposing them to potential careers.

Sunrise ArtWorks

"To open up and explore a new area" is the definition of a pioneer. Walt Weinberg, founder of Sunrise ArtWorks, was a pioneer in his own right, when he was one of the first artists to open a business in East End Arts District, formed in 1998. Over the past nine years, eight new artists have joined Walt at Sunrise ArtWorks, a retail and artists' studio work space.

Encouragement for art in the district is also evidenced by his volunteer community work with local nonprofit organizations and schools. Walt serves on various arts committees, is a founding member of the East End Arts Association, regularly donates his art to silent auctions and gives demonstrations to emerging young artists on the art of throwing pottery.

Suss Buick Pontiac GMC
It's all in the family. James, Jim and Paul Suss work together, with 80 employees, to bring excellence to the car dealership they have operated in Aurora for 27 years. Paul Suss has often said that his family wanted their dealership to serve a leadership role in the community, to devote time and energy to improving the community. That philosophy is evident in many ways.

In addition to contributing significantly to Aurora's economy, they serve on various boards to bring direction and leadership to the city, including the:

  • Aurora Economic Development Council
  • Community College of Aurora Foundation
  • Aurora Rotary
  • Pinnacol Assurance
  • Havana Business Improvement District

The creation of the Havana Business Improvement District marks the first Business Improvement District in Aurora . The Havana BID will be a win-win-win situation for consumers, the businesses on Havana Street and the city. There are 660 businesses in the Havana BID boundaries, which extends for 4.3 miles along Havana St. from E. 6th Ave. on the north.
