Did you know that …

  • 61% of Internet users have bought a product online.
  • 53% of Internet users have made travel reservations online.
  • 42% of Internet users have used the Internet to get financial information such as stock quotes or mortgage rates.
  • 30% of Internet users have done banking online which represents growth of 127%.
  • 22% of users have participated in an online auction which  represents 85% growth.
  • 87% of those 65 and over do not have Internet access and 59% of those between the ages of 50 and 64 do not go online. In comparison, 65% of those under age 30 have Internet access.
  • 74% of those over 50 who are not online say they don’t plan to get Internet access, while 65% of those under 50 say they plan to get Internet access.

The Aurora BDC has partnered once again with Cultura Business Communications to offer FREE training in English and Spanish entitled, “Smart Money”. The program will provide information and tools for smart personal and business money management. Participants of this five-week course will learn how to manage their financial affairs with sessions on how to save money, borrowing and banking basics, credit card usage, applying sound money management to start a business or buy a home, and much more.

Classes taught in English are on Tuesdays beginning September 19th, and in Spanish on Wednesdays beginning September 20th.  All sessions are from 6:30-9:00 p.m. at the City of Aurora’s Municipal Center. Training and Guidance– Any Takers?

This past spring, some of you participated in a survey on how well the Aurora BDC is serving the small business community.  Thank you to all who participated!

As a result of that survey, there were a few respondents who suggested that we offer Web site-based training.  To dedicate the resources in developing such a program, we would like to hear from you as to whether a seminar or a series of seminars would be beneficial to you, the small business owner, or to your clients, if you are a resource provider.
