Aurora Seeks Nominations for the
2008 Business Recognition Awards
The City of Aurora is seeking nominations for its annual Business Recognition Awards Program. The city will honor both small and large outstanding businesses in October 2008.
Nominees must be licensed to operate within Aurora and will be evaluated based on several factors, including longevity, innovation, exemplary customer service delivery and community involvement. Major companies can also be nominated for a significant capital investment and/or annual revenues.
Launched in 2005 by Aurora City Manager Ron Miller, the Business Recognition Awards Program aspires to build and reinforce relationships with local businesses and entrepreneurs. The city also uses this program to appreciate new businesses within Aurora by recognizing them for significant achievements throughout the year.

Celebrate Independence Day at the City of Aurora's
Seventh Annual Fourth of July Spectacular on July 4th!
|
Live entertainment will begin at 6:30 PM with a patriotic performance by the Aurora Symphony. The United States Air Force Academy Concert Band will perform 8:15 – 9:15 PM.
The metro-area's largest fireworks display begins at 9:30 PM, and be sure to tune your radios to 1430 AM KEZW, where you can hear the fireworks choreographed to classic beats.
Limited seating is available on the Aurora Municipal Center lawn. The fireworks also may be viewed from surrounding areas. Best viewing locations include east of Potomac Street, south of Sixth Avenue, north of Mississippi Avenue and west of Buckley Road. Parking is available at the Aurora Town Center, Aurora City Place and the Community College of Aurora.

Aurora Seeking Public Input About Future Public Art
The City of Aurora Art in Public Places Commission is inviting the public to help establish future locations for public art around the city. This master planning process will place nearly $1 million worth of public art from 2009 to 2013.
About the Aurora Art in Public Places Program, Cultural Services Division: The Aurora Art in Public Places program maintains and expands a quality public art collection of diverse media and styles that plays an integral role in the city's architecture and community. Public art represents an opportunity for Aurora to establish a unique identity and to contribute to the civic pride of the community. The Cultural Services Division is the largest single provider of arts & culture in the City of Aurora offering programs in performing arts,
fine arts, history, public art, special events and festivals, and community volunteerism.
