What do plastic, paper, glass, wood, granite, marble, ceramic tile, natural stone, cork, leather, fabric and coated metals all have in common? Aurora Laser Designs.

Aurora Laser Designs is a home-based business located in Original Aurora near the East End Arts District.  The owner, Margaret Turco, has lived in Aurora for 16 years and has over 20 years experience in the die-cutting industry. She opened her own business in 2008.

Aurora Laser Designs focuses primarily on commercial and industrial customers making electrical panel tags and small signs, but can also engrave a variety of materials and cut prototype and production parts for industry and promotions.  Margaret also does CAD file preparation, drawing blueprints for two-dimensional parts such as gaskets.

"My goal is to supply my customers with the best value available. Because I do not have a storefront, I have a lower overhead than many other companies providing similar services and try to reflect that in my pricing."

It’s especially important in these economic times to support local businesses, and Margaret has found most of her suppliers and customers in the metro area.  "I took several classes at the Aurora Business Development Center to help me get organized before I started doing business.  I’m happy to say that July 2009 has been my best month so far!"

Ice Cream Social and Dedication of the
Lisa Strawn Memorial Rose Garden at The Gardens on Havana

Golden WingsresizedThe date has been set for the dedication of the Lisa Strawn Memorial Rose Garden and official grand opening of the entire Gardens on Havana mixed-use center:  Sat., August 29th, 7:00 PM.  You are invited to attend the official dedication/ribbon cutting ceremony, a tour of the garden and an old-fashioned community ice cream social.

The Aurora Symphony Orchestra's brass quintet will be on hand to set the mood.  The Gardens on Havana is putting the "community" back into the On Havana Street community, similar to the former Buckingham Square Mall in its heyday.  Come out for a couple of hours on a hot August night to enjoy some ice cream, music, socialize with your neighbors and "Stop and Smell the Roses" at The Gardens on Havana. Remember to take a drive On Havana Street on a regular basis. There are many businesses - - tried and true and new - - to meet your shopping needs.

SEO Topic of the Month:
A Case for Link Building

Creating links is one of the most significant elements in getting Google/Bing page rank and position. Quality links from and to other sites to your own are essential for search engine optimization.

Why link build?

  • It aids in receiving traffic from related sources to your site
  • High-quality back links (inbound) drive page ranking.

Factors to bear in mind when link building:

  • Relevant links are links from sites or pages with related content and (ideally) with link text related to your targeted keywords.
  • Quality links are unique text links inside body copy, preferably on sites that search engines can trust; e.g., old sites with a history of their own quality inbound links.
