Starting a restaurant
is not
quite as easy as
baking a pie!
But there
is a
step-by-step
process
to
help things
go
more smoothly. |
There is a Recipe to Follow When Starting a Restaurant
Starting a Restaurant
Wednesday, Oct. 20th, 1:00 - 4:00 PM, $25/person
Call to register and for location: (303) 326-8690
There are several steps to take before a Certificate of Occupancy can be issued to a restaurant by the City of Aurora:
Step 1 - - Fact Finding
Step 2 - - The Application Process
Step 3 - - Obtaining Permits
Step 4 - - Inspections
As a restaurant start-up begins to tackle each step, there are many cost considerations that, unless they're part of the overall plan for capital, may stop the process mid-stream. One example is the installation of a grease trap, an expensive item that needs to be in a restaurant's start-up budget. Hiring a reputable contractor is also an important part of the process.
Read the brochure: "Starting a Restaurant - Things to consider" BEFORE putting money down on a lease. Testimonial: "My name is Esther Sandoval, I’m 29 years old and I’m from Chihuahua. Last week I was in (Colorado) to explore the possibility of opening a restaurant... My husband and I own two restaurants in Chihuahua; one for 8 years and another for 2 years. The restaurants are doing well and we would like to open one in Colorado... Working with commercial leasing and real estate agents was so difficult! I have $150,000 cash to invest and a co-signer for more than $300,000; however, no one takes me seriously. I was driving back to Chihuahua feeling frustrated, rejected and inferior, when I listened to your radio show. I heard that the City of Aurora (Aurora Business Development Center) is going to have a class, 'Starting a Restaurant' on May 26th. Well, like you said, starting a business in the USA is different and so I’m going to come back and attend! After listening to your show, I now have a renewed spirit! I hope to meet you soon! Thank you!"
